Jed Cochran

U.S. House Oklahoma District 1

Years as a registered Republican:

?

Jedidiah “Jed” Cochran is a fifth-generation Oklahoman, raised on his family’s homeplace in eastern Atoka County. The oldest of five siblings, Jed is the son of a small business owner and golf course construction superintendent, Danny Cochran, and homemaker and grassroots political activist, Sherri Cochran. Jed’s commitment to public service and conservative activism began early at just five years old when he was volunteering on Republican campaigns alongside his mother. As a lifelong conservative, Jed remains deeply committed to advancing policies promoting economic growth, strengthening communities, and securing a strong future for Oklahoma.

A graduate of Oral Roberts University, Jed launched his career in public service as an intern for U.S. Senator Tom Coburn in Washington, D.C. He went on to serve the Oklahoma Republican Party under Chairman Gary Jones and played a key role in the historic 2010 Republican sweep of statewide offices and legislative majorities, helping lead eastern Oklahoma efforts under Chairman Matt Pinnell.

Jed has built a formidable reputation for strategic leadership and effective governance. In 2014, he managed Todd Hiett’s successful Corporation Commission campaign, overcoming a six-to-one spending disadvantage. Jed later served as Senior Advisor during Steve Russell’s winning Fifth Congressional District runoff and returned to Washington as Political Director for Congressman Russell.

Back in Oklahoma, Jed served as Northeast Oklahoma Field Representative and District Director for U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, supporting 20 counties in securing federal resources for infrastructure, economic development, and public safety initiatives.

From 2019 to 2023, Jed served as Chief of Intergovernmental Relations for Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum, where he led the city’s engagement with federal, state, tribal, and local partners. Jed now serves as a Partner at Capitol Ventures Government Relations in Tulsa, advocating for more than 15 clients on wide-ranging federal issues. Jed also leads a consulting firm focused on economic development, site selection, construction, energy infrastructure, and local business recruitment.

Jed and his wife, Makenzie, reside in Tulsa and have been married since 2020. In August 2025, they welcomed their daughter, Beatrice Moran Cochran.
